IDOE Cambridge Grant: FAQs
What is the IDOE Cambridge Grant?
The IDOE Cambridge Grant provides funding for Indiana-accredited K–12 public, charter, and private schools to implement at least one Cambridge math, science, or Thinking Skills course.
The first grant cycle for 2025–26 has concluded, with six schools selected for funding. The second grant cycle, covering 2026–27, is scheduled to open in early Spring 2026. Approved schools may receive up to $20,000, with funds administered by the Indiana Department of Education.
The grant aims to expand access to high-quality STEM education and improve student outcomes in math and science. Schools must submit an application, consider long-term sustainability, and outline how they will use Cambridge curriculum and resources to support their goals.
Schools may choose to begin teaching Cambridge in 2026-27 or 2027-28.

What is the Cambridge AICE Diploma?
The Cambridge AICE Diploma is an optional, advanced, college-level academic program for high school students that offers students a broad and balanced curriculum, culminating in a diploma that can lead to college credit and scholarship opportunities.
With the AICE Diploma and required workplace experience hours, Indiana students earn the Honors Plus Seal.
The AICE Diploma assures acceptance into all Indiana public higher education institutions. It is highly regarded by top universities across the U.S. and around the world.
To earn the diploma, students must earn at least seven credits by passing 4-7 Cambridge Advanced (AS & A Level) exams, including a compulsory AS Level course in Global Perspectives & Research, and one subject each from the groups of mathematics/science, languages, and arts/humanities.
The AICE program is considered rigorous and prepares students for university-level studies by emphasizing critical thinking and independent research skills.
Can Indiana students earn college credit for Cambridge courses?
Yes. All public colleges and universities in Indiana award college credit to students who earn a passing grade on Cambridge International AS & A Level courses and exams, as do over 1,000 universities nationwide. This policy helps students save on tuition and potentially graduate earlier.

Is this funding provided through a state or federal grant?
Funding for the Cambridge pilot program in Indiana is provided through the state legislature and managed by the Indiana Department of Education (IDOE). Current funding is for 2 years, reflective of the 2-year state budget cycles. This funding is due to be renewed in the following 2-year budget cycle with strong support from the state.
This initiative supports eligible Indiana schools in implementing Cambridge programs by covering key costs such as professional development, curriculum materials, and exam fees. The grant is part of the state’s broader effort to expand access to rigorous academic pathways and college credit opportunities for Indiana students.
My school was awarded a 2025-26 grant. Do we need to reapply for Cambridge grant funds for 2026-27?
Yes. The grant application provided up to $20K in funding per approved school for the 2025-26 school year. Approved schools need to apply for a renewal of the grant for the 2026-27 school year. The renewal process ensures that schools are making progress toward their implementation goals, meeting grant requirements, and have a clear plan for sustaining the program beyond the grant period. The Indiana Department of Education will review each renewal application to determine continued eligibility and funding. Your Cambridge team is available to assist you with your grant renewal application.
What's the difference between Cambridge IGCSE and AS & A Levels?
Cambridge IGCSE (International General Certificate of Secondary Education), typically taken by students in grades 9–10, are pre-advanced courses which build the content knowledge and skill set necessary for success in our college credit bearing courses, known as AS & A Level courses.
Cambridge International AS & A Levels are advanced courses and exams usually taken by students in grades 11–12. AS Level courses are equivalent to a college 101 course, while A Level courses are equivalent to a college 102 course. These courses offer in-depth subject specialization and exams are widely recognized by U.S. colleges and universities for college credit and advanced placement, similar to AP or IB programs.
How will you help schools to implement Cambridge?
